Editorial policy

NudistMap has two kinds of pages: place and hub pages generated from data, and guides, law summaries and organisation pages written by hand. This policy covers both.

Who is responsible

Reto Pascal Wyss, founder and maintainer, writes and signs every hand-written page and reviews every change to the data pipeline. There are no anonymous authors and no guest posts. The about page describes the background.

Generated pages say only what the data says

Every sentence on a place or hub page is built from a field we hold: the status and its source, coordinates, monthly climate and sea temperature from NASA and NOAA, EU bathing water ratings, land managers from public datasets. If a field is missing, the sentence is left out rather than filled with a generic phrase. Pages with too little data are kept out of search engines until they have more. We do not copy descriptions, coordinates or lists from other directories.

Hand-written pages cite their sources

Guides end with a sources section linking to the federations, datasets and studies they rely on. Law pages footnote each claim to a statute, government or court source and say when a position is unclear. Organisation pages use only facts the organisation publishes itself. Numbers that change (members, prices) are left out so pages do not go stale silently.

Independence

  • No venue, federation or tourist board pays for a listing, a status or a place in a list, and none has edited a page.
  • Some booking links earn a commission. They never affect which places are listed, their status or their order; see the affiliate disclosure.
  • We accept no free stays or products in exchange for coverage.

Corrections

Errors are corrected on the page as soon as they are confirmed, and changes that alter a status or a factual claim are logged with the date on the updates page. Report an error with the page link to . How statuses are checked is described in how we verify.

Use of AI tools

We use software, including AI assistants, to draft text, clean data and check links. Every published sentence is reviewed by the author, who is responsible for it. Statuses, legal claims and organisation facts are checked against the sources named on the page, not taken from an AI model.

What we never publish

Explicit images, photos of identifiable people, sex venues and swinger resorts, personal data of readers who report changes, and anything scraped from other directories. The content policy has the details.
