What does British Naturism do?

BN campaigns for the legal position that simple nudity is not an offence in England and Wales, publishes guidance used by police forces, and runs hundreds of events a year: naturist swims at public pools, sauna evenings, a summer festival and the Great British Skinny Dip each September.

It also supports the UK's naturist clubs and the handful of official naturist beaches such as those on the south coast, and lobbies councils when a beach's status is threatened.

Frequently asked questions

How many naturist beaches are there in the UK?

Only a few beaches are officially designated by councils, mostly on the south and east coasts; many more are clothing optional by long custom. Each UK beach on NudistMap shows which applies.

What is the Great British Skinny Dip?

A weekend of organised swims at beaches, lakes and pools across the UK each September, run by British Naturism to introduce newcomers to social nudity.

Do I need to be a member to attend BN events?

Many events welcome non-members for a small surcharge; members get discounts and the magazine. Check the event listing.
