National federation
Federation of Canadian Naturists
The Federation of Canadian Naturists (FCN) is the national naturist organisation for Canada outside Quebec, founded in 1986. It publishes Going Natural magazine, issues the INF card for Canada and supports clubs, beaches and the Naturist Action Committee's Canadian work.
What does the FCN do?
The FCN represents individual members and affiliated clubs from British Columbia to the Atlantic provinces, including landed clubs such as Bare Oaks and the users of public beaches such as Wreck Beach in Vancouver, Canada's best-known clothing-optional beach.
Quebec has its own federation, the Fédération québécoise de naturisme, founded in 1977; the two cooperate and both are recognised by the International Naturist Federation.
Frequently asked questions
Is public nudity legal in Canada?
The Criminal Code makes nudity in a public place an offence only when it is without lawful excuse and, in practice, prosecutions need the consent of the provincial attorney general. Designated beaches such as Wreck Beach and Hanlan's Point are clothing optional.
What is Going Natural?
The FCN's quarterly members' magazine, with club news, travel and legal updates.
